TV has no picture but the sound works
If your TV does not display a picture but the sound works, in 98% of cases the fault is due to broken LEDs in the screen. This applies on the condition that it is an LED TV and not an OLED TV. Changing the lamps in the monitor is something we can help you with. In order to give you a price for the repair, we need some information about your TV. Click here to file a bug report.
In some cases, the problem may be caused by something else, but it is easy to rule out if it is precisely the backlight that is defective. Here's how to test yourself:
-
Start your TV as usual and make sure you have an external source connected, such as a set-top box, Apple TV or Chromecast via HDMI.
-
Shine a flashlight on the screen from about 10 cm away.
-
If you can see faint silhouettes of the image displayed from your source, it's likely the LEDs are broken.
If you see these silhouettes, the problem is most likely related to the backlight, and we can help you replace the lamps. If you don't see anything, it may be a different error that requires further troubleshooting.
